Good Faith Estimate (GFE) No Surprise Act
Your Rights and Protections Against Surprise Medical Bills

Under the No Surprises Act, effective January 1, 2022, all healthcare providers are required to provide patients who do not have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of the cost of services, including therapy, with a Good Faith Estimate (GFE).

At Refocus Therapy Center, we are committed to transparency and providing you with all the information you need to make informed decisions about your care.

You have the right to receive a GFE explaining how much your mental health care services will cost.

A Good Faith Estimate is a clear breakdown of the expected costs for your therapy services. This estimate includes the anticipated costs for the services you will receive during your treatment, allowing you to understand and plan for the financial aspect of your care.

Duration and Frequency of Treatment

There are many factors that determine the length and frequency of your treatment, as well as the type of services provided. These factors include your goals, availability, financial considerations, and the therapist’s ongoing assessment of your progress.

Below are examples to give you an idea of what the cost of therapy services might look like over time. Keep in mind, the actual frequency and duration of sessions depend on your individual needs and goals.

I will provide a Good Faith Estimate before your initial session or any other non-emergency services at least 72 hours in advance. If you schedule a service less than 72 hours in advance, you will receive a GFE as soon as possible.

Common Questions About GFE

GFE helps prevent surprise medical bills by ensuring that you are informed of the costs upfront. This is part of our commitment to ethical and transparent practices.

While we do our best to provide an accurate estimate, the final cost of your services might differ depending on your unique needs or the length of your treatment. If there is a significant change in your treatment plan, we will notify you and provide an updated estimate.

If you receive a bill that is significantly higher than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the bill. For more information on how to file a dispute, visit the CMS website or contact us directly for assistance.
